i attended my literary stylistics tutorial today
and we were examining this Shakespeare poem
and a passage from somewhere..
here goes abit of it..

He was most himself when he was alone, or working hard and mechanically at the factory.

so my lecturer was asking us
wad was special or significant abt that sentence
and noone said anything..
i didnt cos i couldnt identify wad was special
or what it could imply in terms of linguistics.

i've realised i don't question much..
just take information fed to me quite abit.
thought i have become more critical these years,
as i've been questioning stuff i read.
but such a simple question..
and there i am,
unable to figure out what the basic assumptions,
what the implications of such a simple sentence were.
i think it's the education i've been put through,
taught from young never to question,
but just take things as they are.
except when u dont understand something,
you'll have someone drive their info into ur head.
that's all.
but the theatre studies programme in nus has taught me alot
ive learnt to question,
not take things at face value.
there are pple who are still insistent on the ultimate truth,
in the binaries of good n bad, etc.
im not saying it's wrong,
i don't think it's wrong..
but i think people shouldn't be closed to ideas
and should learn to listen more.
i'm trying to listen more.
but my mouth shoots off quite fast.
i'm learning.

on another note,
some people are able to piss me off with one comment.
u know, the world doesnt revolve around u n ur narrow-minded ideas.

haven't been blogging properly for awhile now!

just watched Homerun for the second time,
this time after a few more proper film modules.
and suddenly im changing my views towards jack neo.
i used to think his style of directing
was very blatant and in-ur-face
but i realised..
as long as he's smart enough to get away with stuff,
it's really no harm being as blatant as one could get.
more people get it this way.

never really looked at the mise-en-scene carefully,
but really.
after just now i really burst out laughing..
the stuff i missed-
the well(u know..the water-well) foregrounding the disputes,
the ending of the show,
where there was this long-shot of the muddy path
and the two protagonists at one end of it,
lookin' towards the other side of it.
wad does it remind u of? =)

things have been going well,
and i spent a good day at the beach on sunday.

ive been the luckiest girl ever..
to have the darlingests remember my 21st,
to have the dearests close by any moment, any day.
what else can i ask for?

indeed, 21st's full of surprises.
and ive been the luckiest luckiest girl.

havent been so contented with life n all for such a long time
for quite some time now.
and i love the simplicity of everything.
the easy days that go by
with me fretting over not havent completed my readings,

thinking abt wad to eat for each of the five meals ive been having everyday.

im quite sick of the blogskin i have now,
and i think that's why i havent been updating.
cant bear to look at my own blog even.
i'll change it the moment pple send me new nice pics of myself.
i really need a camera. rahhh.
before pple start calling me "the girl with OCD".

life's been good n easy on me,

another surprise birthday celebration! =]

i was composing some email to appeal for some waiver with na..
when i saw other walk past.
then na's phone rang n she had to go,
so i ran out the door n caught other.
heh she had no lessons!
so i grabbed her to pei me type email.
so she was grumbling wrumbling abt being tired n all
then i offered my hall.
then ripple n meiyi came by too!
so we all in the comp lab.
then fir's sms came,
"hey babe u got lessons later?"
so i replied no.

so ripple meiyi n i went off for stage n screen together,
n convinced lazy other to go to my hall to sleep.
we saw yuefeng in the classroom
and had our lessons.
then we went back to my hall
and saw lane sitting on the tilam,
and i tried my best to tidy up my room.
then she went
"wad's that bulging under ur blanket?"
i lifted it up n saw a bouquet of lilac roses!
so i went
"not mine..urs?"
then she went,
"how come under ur bed so messy?"
and so i bent down embarrassedly n ...
SAW MY BIRTHDAY CAKE!
lalala.
so happy.

and my day went super well too..
with the nice el lecturer offering me the tutorial slot,
not being angry about my not attending class at all,
saw some of my favourite people in school,
late for robin's class but he was so damn sweet abt it.
happyyyyy.

but right now.
CORS sucks. =helppp.
the year1s ah.. *shakes head*
we never had such problems right?!

surprise celebration!

it was a wonderful day today!! =]

oks let me start from the beginning!
firstly, nana came to stay over
so i woke up with my gof in the same room!

then i bought nine pairs of ankle socks
(heh the rainbow flag color!) and two pinks.
i'll try to steal some camera and take pics.
oh and all for 20bucks.
love me.

then it was gym with fir!!
wah today my body was goood.
like excuse me,
i didnt grumble n whine to myself after a few minutes
on the killer cross-trainer.
35minutes n i believe i could go on.
then the calf machine was so cool!
and did other stuff today..

made me think of so much.

the moment i started the memories of my old days
throwing wallets and stuff
just flooded into my mind.

five stones. (or four)
i remb playing them with my mum
and sewing them for homec class and they got stolen.

zero point.
i remember jumping on the grass
and realising i sucked at it
so i didnt mind just holding it for my frens.

those days!

of course..
there were like.. 21 challenges.

and gawd.
you should have seen them.
the amount of thought that went into such a thing.

organising the surprise too!
all the different methods tried.

and did i mention the presents?
i loved the messages.
and the cloth that was holding the messages.
and the many many vouchers for plaza singapura!
all the stuff i wanna buy.
all the shopping therapy i could do!
and there's a flash n splash at ps. heh heh.
oooh and audson my new bear! =]
then the dinner at swensons.

all the people who came,
and all the people who didnt but i remembered.

i recall my first birthday celebration with swaps.
i was just a freshie
and i was soooo touched by the surprise at the swaps table.
the cake,
how the surprise was organised, everything.

my second birthday at sentosa,
the times we had.

and this, my third.
swaps never fails to make me feel loved.

i love all of u guys.

and kim says its the lack of sleep.

i had a horrible outbreak of pimples.
so im back home to my xue hua gao.
